Senior Data Engineer (Contract-to-Hire, Remote – EST Hours) About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in cloud data engineering, healthcare data, and problem-solving. This role requires someone who can independently design and build scalable data solutions, drive initiatives forward, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality results. This is a remote position, with working hours aligned to the Eastern Time Zone (EST). The role will begin as contract-to-hire. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures in GCP (preferred), with flexibility for strong experience in AWS or Azure. • Lead the design and implementation of data solutions, not just migrations. • Develop efficient and reliable ETL/ELT processes leveraging BigQuery, Airflow, and Composer. • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries and production-level Python code. • Manage and integrate healthcare data sources including Claims, Clinical, HL7, PCI/PHI, Lab data, and Pharmacy data. • Ensure data quality, compliance, and security, particularly around healthcare regulations (HIPAA). • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. • Drive projects independently, proactively identifying issues and proposing solutions. • Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices in data engineering. Qualifications • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering. • Proven expertise in SQL and Python. • Strong hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery, Airflow, Composer). AWS or Azure background acceptable if combined with GCP build experience. • Demonstrated success in designing and building data platforms, pipelines, and solutions. • Healthcare data experience is required, including Claims, Clinical, HL7, PCI/PHI, Lab data, and Pharmacy datasets. • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to work independently and lead initiatives. • Solid understanding of data security and compliance in healthcare. • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts. Nice to Have • Experience with cloud cost optimization and performance tuning. • Exposure to modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, Kafka). • Background in ML/AI data preparation. Job Details • Type: Contract-to-Hire • Location: Remote (U.S. based, working EST hours)
