GCP Data Engineer Location: Allen Park, MI (Hybrid – 4 days onsite required) Employment Type: Open-Ended • • NO C2C or C2H • • Must have GCP Cloud Engineer Certification About the Role Join a multi-year transformation initiative focused on revolutionizing Materials Requirement Planning and Inventory Management for one of our Tier 1 Automotive clients. As part of a broader Industrial Systems IT Transformation, this role will be instrumental in designing and deploying a data-centric architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support a wide range of enterprise functions including Product Development, Manufacturing, Finance, Purchasing, and Supplier Collaboration. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement scalable data solutions using GCP tools (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Vertex AI, etc.) • Build and maintain ETL pipelines for ingesting data from diverse sources • Develop data processing workflows using Java and Python • Create and optimize data models for efficient storage and retrieval • Manage SQL and NoSQL databases (Bigtable, Firestore, Cloud SQL) • Implement CI/CD pipelines and version control using tools like GitHub Actions, Tekton, Terraform • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows using GCP logging and monitoring tools • Ensure code quality with tools like SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fossa, and Cycode • Enforce data governance and security best practices • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements • Document engineering processes and support knowledge sharing • Participate in on-call rotations and mentor junior engineers Certification Required: GCP Data Engineer Certification Education Required: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field Required Skills & Experience • 8+ years in data engineering and software product development • Proficiency in at least three of: Java, Python, Spark, Scala, SQL • 4+ years of experience with cloud-based data engineering (preferably GCP) Experience with: • Data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery) • Workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow) • RDBMS (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) • Real-time streaming (e.g., Apache Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub) • Microservices and REST APIs • DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, GitHub, Terraform) • Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA) Preferred Experience • Automotive industry background • Experience in SAP S/4HANA environments and IDOC/API-based data migration • Familiarity with onshore/offshore support models Must have GCP Cloud Engineer Certification • • NO C2C or C2H • •
