Role description
Position Title: Data Engineer
Position Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Remote/Onsite: Onsite 5 days a week
Acceptable time zone(s): EST
Days of the week: M-F
Working Hours: 8a-5p
OT: Not likely, and only if there is a need.
Intended length of Assignment: July 20, 2026, through Sept 25, 2026
Reason for open position: increase in business demand/replacement
Contract to Hire W2 only
This position is contract with the right to hire if a need becomes available. Managers will only look at candidates that are open to converting to a full-time employee. Client will not sponsor work visas if the decision is made to hire the contingent worker.
Function of the Group: Support Costing and Profitability for Line of Business
Initiatives/Projects: Costing for Customer Profitability
Industry background: Finance or banking-preferred, solid understanding of data-required
Team Dynamic: Team of 6-7
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Analyzes and evaluates requirements by working with users, product owners and management and provides recommendations on the scope and complexity of the solution.
• Collaborate with Finance Product owners and analysts to gather requirements and implement data solutions that meet business needs.
• Proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong sense of ownership Creative problem solver who can tackle complex data challenges.
• Mentor who can guide junior engineers and contributes to team growth.
• Proposes & designs data solutions to address complex business needs. Prepares technical and procedural documentation required.
• Acts as a lead by developing and documenting technical specifications for proposed solutions. This includes hands-on coding and testing as well to support solutions.
• Participates in code reviews & overall testing.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills
Must Have Technical Skills: Years of experience:
• Strong experience in data engineering and ETL development
• Strong experience with Informatica (PowerCenter and/or Informatica Cloud/IICS)
• Advanced SQL, PL/SQL skills and experience with large-scale data transformations
• Experience with data warehousing platforms (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata)
• Writing and optimizing code for data pipelines to ensure systems are highly efficient, scalable, and capable of handling large-scale financial datasets.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with finance and business stakeholders
Flex Skills/Nice to Have:
• Proficient with code deployment tools such as Udeploy, Artifactory Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) Knowledge of financial and cost data, preferably Activity Based Costing & customer profitability systems.
Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong ownership mindset and accountability for deliverables end to end
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and recommend data driven solutions
• Collaborative team player and raises team moral
Education/Certifications: Bachelor's or equivalent experience
