Role description
What This Job Really Is
This is a hands-on, senior data engineering consultant role focused on turning raw data into polished, executive-level dashboards in a regulated financial services environment. Itβs less about long-term leadership or career growth, and more about being the go-to expert to quickly deliver robust dashboards + pipelines with minimal oversight.
Core Responsibilities
β’ Data Engineering & Automation: Enhance and optimize data pipelines (about half are already automated). Work with Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark) and integrate multiple data sources (Kafka, APIs, Oracle DB, Informatica).
β’ Dashboarding & Reporting: Deliver executive-ready Power BI dashboards, KPIs, and reporting suites. Heavy use of DAX, star schema modeling, real-time integrations.
β’ Architecture & Governance: Contribute to building out a Databricks Lakehouse, ensure data governance and security, leverage cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
β’ Workflow Orchestration: Use Airflow / Azure Data Factory to automate pipelines and workflows.
Must-Have Skills
β’ 8+ years in data engineering/analytics, ideally in banking/financial services.
β’ Expert Power BI (dashboarding, DAX, schema design, real-time).
β’ Databricks / PySpark / SQL for scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
β’ Cloud-native tools (Azure, AWS).
β’ Workflow automation (Airflow, ADF).
β’ Strong ability to work independently under pressure.
