Principal Data Architect
We are seeking an accomplished Principal Data Architect with deep expertise in Azure Databricks Platform to lead and manage our enterprise-scale data platform initiatives and analytics projects. The ideal candidate is a proactive, technically exceptional leader who brings a strong blend of strategic thinking, hands-on technical execution, and people management.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Platform Ownership & Architecture
β’ Own and evolve the architecture and operations of our Azure Fabric and Databricks platforms.
β’ Drive the design and implementation of medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers) to ensure scalable and maintainable data processing frameworks.
β’ Champion and enforce data governance, security protocols, lineage, and access controls across the data estate.
β’ Data Engineering Leadership
β’ Lead the development and optimization of high-performance data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Spark in Databricks platform.
β’ Architect end-to-end data workflows to support real-time and batch processing needs across various business units.
β’ Maintain and enhance data catalogs, metadata management, and discoverability to ensure data democratization.
β’ BI & Analytics Enablement
β’ Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable BI reports and self-service analytics tools that translate data into actionable insights.
β’ Align data delivery with business KPIs, analytics roadmaps, and operational reporting needs.
β’ Team Leadership & Collaboration
β’ Inspire and lead a team of data engineers, architects, and analysts with a strong focus on collaboration and innovation.
β’ Foster a team-first mindset, providing mentorship and clear career development paths.
β’ Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Security, and Business teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
β’ Communication & Influence
β’ Communicate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
β’ Proactively identify opportunities, risks, and areas for data-driven innovation.
β’ Present architectural proposals and platform evolution strategies to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
β’ 10+ years of experience in enterprise data platforms, with proven leadership roles.
β’ Expert-level knowledge of Azure Fabric and Databricks (including Spark).
β’ Strong experience implementing data governance frameworks, RBAC policies, encryption, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
β’ Proficient in building and scaling data pipelines, Delta Lake, Lakehouse patterns, and streaming/real-time data integration.
β’ Demonstrated experience in BI/reporting solutions (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).
β’ Deep understanding of data cataloging, metadata management, and data quality practices.
β’ Skilled in collaborative leadership, people management, and mentorship.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at interfacing with both technical and executive stakeholders.
Preferred
β’ Certifications in Azure or Databricks (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Databricks Certified Data Engineer).
β’ Proven track record in driving enterprise-scale data transformation initiatives.
