The Merchandise Business Insight and Analytics team has responsibility for providing core retail merchandise, planning, analytics, and reporting systems to support the product lifecycle management and drive actionable insights for the Global Product Creation Group and a large community of business users across Category and Location Planning, Product Development, and operations functions for the Merchandise Businesses Globally.
Role
We are seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to lead dynamic pricing and optimization efforts for the client Store e-commerce channel. This role will focus on developing and enhancing advanced price optimization models to deliver dynamic price recommendations that drive incremental margin and improve business performance. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and retail pricing strategies. This position plays a critical role in shaping data-driven pricing decisions that support revenue growth and company success.
Basic Qualifications
β’ Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related field.
β’ Business Acumen (4β6+ years): Ability to translate complex analytical insights into actionable pricing strategies; proven track record of partnering with cross-functional teams such as Merchandising, Finance, and Marketing to drive revenue outcomes.
β’ Retail Pricing Expertise (4β6+ years): Proven experience developing and optimizing pricing strategies in a retail environment, including elasticity modeling, promotional lift analysis, and competitive pricing insights.
β’ Advanced Statistical Modeling (4β6+ years): Deep knowledge of predictive modeling techniques such as regression, time series forecasting (e.g., ARIMA, Prophet), causal inference, and machine learning methods (e.g., XGBoost, LightGBM) applied to pricing and demand estimation.
β’ Experimental Design (5+ years): Proficiency in designing and analysing pricing experiments, including A/B testing, geo-lift studies, and other causal frameworks to measure the impact of pricing changes.
β’ Python Proficiency (5+ years): Expert-level skills in Python, with demonstrated ability to build scalable, production-ready pricing and forecasting models using libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, and PyMC.
β’ SQL Expertise (5+ years): Strong command of SQL for querying and manipulating large-scale retail and transactional datasets, with experience building automated data pipelines.
β’ Data Storytelling (5+ years): Skilled in communicating data-driven recommendations to senior stakeholders through clear, concise storytelling and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or matplotlib.
