Role Overview:
Our client, a leader in the financial services industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to manage the full lifecycle of data science projects. This role involves leading project execution from conception through deployment, developing advanced machine learning models, and mentoring junior team members. The Senior Data Scientist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights and contribute to the organizationβs strategic data initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Lead and manage end-to-end data science projects, defining objectives, requirements, and ensuring timely delivery.
β’ Develop, validate, and implement machine learning and statistical models, including predictive analytics and optimization of existing models.
β’ Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that inform business decisions.
β’ Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate complex data into clear strategies.
β’ Mentor and provide guidance to junior data scientists, fostering professional growth.
β’ Stay current with advancements in data science and AI, exploring new tools and methodologies to drive innovation.
β’ Contribute strategic input on data-driven initiatives and technical approaches to projects.
Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; Masterβs or PhD strongly preferred.
β’ Minimum 5 years of industry experience in applied machine learning, with at least 2 years focused on deep learning and neural networks.
β’ Experience in banking, payments, or financial services, specifically in fraud detection, scam prevention, and social engineering risk mitigation.
β’ Ability to quickly understand existing risk models and develop flexible AI solutions that complement current risk and compliance tools.
β’ Strong expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
β’ Proven ability to operate independently in complex scenarios, developing and executing solutions with minimal supervision.
β’ Proficiency in Python or R programming languages.
β’ Skilled in creating clear data visualizations and standard data models to effectively communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders.
β’ Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
β’ Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Demonstrated leadership skills with experience mentoring and supporting junior team members.
