Role description
Lead/Senior Data Warehouse Engineer – Contract Role Outside IR35 | Day Rate: £400–450 | Remote (UK) | Initial 3–6 Months We’re supporting a large, established organisation in the public sector space who are looking for a Data Warehouse Engineer to step into a critical BAU role, supporting and maintaining an existing Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse estate. This is a hands‑on, legacy‑friendly environment, with a heavy focus on SSIS‑driven ETL, T‑SQL stored procedures, and keeping an established reporting platform stable. The role is primarily remote, with minimal onsite presence if required. An ASAP start is strongly preferred. You must be UK‑based and eligible to undergo BPSS / security clearance Key Responsibilities • Maintain, support, and enhance an existing SQL Server data warehouse. • Own and support SSIS ETL pipelines, resolving failures and optimising performance. • Write, refactor, and troubleshoot T‑SQL stored procedures, functions, and views. • Support BAU reporting workloads (SSRS / Paginated Reports / SharePoint‑based outputs). • Debug and maintain legacy components such as VBA macros and batch/DOS scripts (no new development required). • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure data reliability and continuity. • Contribute to documentation and knowledge transfer during the handover period. Ideal Candidate • Strong experience as a SQL Data Warehouse Engineer / Developer in Microsoft‑centric environments. • Deep hands‑on experience with SSIS and T‑SQL in production systems. • Comfortable working in legacy or inherited data estates with incremental change. • Experience supporting BAU workloads and acting as a technical point of ownership. • Able to understand and debug older tooling (eg VBA, batch scripts), even if not writing new code. • Calm, pragmatic, and delivery‑focused. Tech Stack • SQL Server (on‑prem) • SSIS • T‑SQL (stored procedures, performance tuning) • SSRS / Paginated Reports • SharePoint reporting • VBA / Batch scripts (support only) This is a high‑impact role focused on stability, reliability, and keeping a business‑critical platform running smoothly. Please apply directly or reach out for more details.
