Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Databricks Engineer for a Contract to hire position working Hybrid in Short Hills, NJ onsite 2 days a week. Summary: We are seeking an energetic and collaborative Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Management group, supporting data and analytics initiatives across multiple business areas. This is a hands-on role focused on advanced Databricks engineering, data products, and analytics, with a small portion of interaction with business stakeholders. Duties:
β’ Senior Databricks Engineer will develop and support new or existing data applications using Databricks and cloud-based platforms
β’ Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to understand data, processes, and requirements, providing recommendations and long-term solutions
β’ Work with architects to design and implement data flows, integration solutions, and low-level technical designs
β’ Conduct code reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation of data engineering solutions
β’ Support production issues and maintain detailed documentation for downstream integrations
β’ As a Senior Databricks Engineer, you will partner with Data Scientists on analytics and data visualization projects (Power BI and other platforms)
β’ Identify technology trends and explore opportunities to improve data engineering practices
Requirements
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related engineering field preferred
β’ Five to ten years of experience in Data Warehousing, Data integration or Data Engineering projects
β’ Experience in Azure Databricks
β’ Practical experience of data modeling and impact of models on KPIs
β’ Experience with interacting with other On Prem ERP/ETL systems (e.g. Informatica PowerCenter, IICS, Cognos, Netezza Performance servers (these are the ones Selective uses so it's not mandatory to have experience with these systems, but the candidate should have similar exposure))
β’ Experience working within Azure ecosystem
β’ Some experience in any of these analytical platforms - Power BI, AzureML, Databricks or Synapse
β’ Experience using Python or Scala
β’ Strong hands-on experience as a Data Engineer
β’ Proficient in SQL
β’ Expertise with Cloud Databricks
β’ Solid understanding of analytics, data visualization, and building data products
β’ Excellent communication skills and ability to work with business teams
β’ Collaborative, detail-oriented, and passionate about building high-quality data solutions
β’ Comfortable asking the right questions and diving deep into technical problems
β’ Excited to work primarily in engineering while supporting stakeholders as needed
β’ Ability to effectively work well with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise
β’ Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Nice-to-Haves:
β’ Experience in Azure DevOps and GitHub is preferred
β’ P&C Insurance experience is highly preferred
β’ Experience with ML Ops, enterprise reporting, or large-scale data platforms
β’ Familiarity with insurance or financial services business processes
β’ Strong prior ETL background preferred (Informatica Power Center, Cognos, etc.)
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
