Senior Developer

Position: Sr. Power BI Developer - W2-CONTRACT ROLE Location: Hybrid (Atlanta, GA) – Onsite first day and onsite as needed Duration: 3+ Months (Likely extension based on budget renewal) Interview Mode: F2F / Webcam Visa: USC / Green Card Preferred Key Responsibilities 1. Semantic Modeling & Data Architecture • Design and optimize Power BI semantic models using dimensional modeling techniques such as Star Schema and Snowflake models. • Build enterprise datasets with relationships, hierarchies, calculation groups, and incremental refresh. • Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve data quality and ensure scalable models. • Implement data modeling standards to support self-service analytics. 1. Advanced DAX Programming • Develop complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and tables. • Optimize DAX queries for performance and maintainability. • Troubleshoot calculation issues across reports and dashboards. • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS). 1. Visualization & Dashboard Development • Develop intuitive and visually compelling dashboards using Power BI Desktop. • Implement drill-throughs, bookmarks, custom visuals, and interactive reports. • Apply best practices for data visualization and storytelling. 1. SQL Development (Oracle & SQL Server) • Develop and optimize SQL queries, views, and stored procedures. • Perform data validation and transformation in Oracle and SQL Server environments. • Work with DBAs and data engineers to ensure performance and data integrity. 1. Power BI Administration & Governance • Manage Power BI Service components such as workspaces, datasets, gateways, refresh schedules, and capacity utilization. • Support governance initiatives including dataset certification and documentation. • Monitor refresh failures and optimize dataset performance. • Assist with tenant-level administration including user access and licensing. 1. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement • Work with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements. • Support self-service BI users and provide technical guidance. • Document data models, reports, SQL scripts, and business logic. • Participate in Agile/project workflows. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field. • 5+ years of Power BI development experience. • Strong expertise in: • Semantic data modeling (Star Schema, Dataflows, Composite Models) • Advanced DAX programming • Power Query (M Language) • Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service • Strong SQL development experience in Oracle and SQL Server. • Experience in Power BI Administration (Gateways, RLS/OLS, Governance, Capacity Management). • Experience working with large and complex datasets. Preferred Skills • Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) including semantic model (RPD), dashboards, and reports. • Knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks.
