Our oil & gas client is seeking a Senior Developer with extensive experience in data modeling, dashboard development, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Power BI, Redshift/PostgreSQL, and AWS Aurora MySQL, with a primary focus on enhancing the performance of existing BI solutions rather than developing from scratch. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving and communication skills who can also assist with end-user training and knowledge transfer. Key Responsibilities: • Analyze and optimize existing Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models to improve performance and efficiency. • Review and tune underlying SQL queries, ensuring optimal performance from Redshift/PostgreSQL and Aurora MySQL data sources. • Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to understand performance issues and implement effective enhancements. • Conduct performance profiling, query tuning, and model optimization to support scalable BI solutions. • Perform code and solution reviews, providing recommendations for improvement and best practices. • Provide training and knowledge transfer to end users and internal teams. • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of BI assets, changes, and best practices. • Work closely with data engineers and DBAs to align on performance strategies and data access patterns. Required Qualifications: • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, with a strong focus on Power BI development. • Proficient in Power BI and data modeling best practices. • Demonstrated experience with Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, and AWS Aurora MySQL, especially in writing and tuning complex SQL queries. • Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, index optimization, and query plan analysis. • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot performance issues in BI environments. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to conduct end-user training and deliver knowledge transfer sessions. • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a performance-focused BI environment.
