Role description
Our client is seeking Dynatrace Monitoring/Observability Engineer , to work under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, implements, and supports enterprise monitoring and observability solutions to ensure the performance, availability, and reliability of critical business systems. Serves as a senior-level subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and guidance on monitoring strategies, application performance management, and infrastructure observability. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to automate monitoring, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across hybrid, multi-cloud, and microservices environments.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Observability
• Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
• Provide end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, applications, and services.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, health checks, and monitoring standards.
• Configure alert thresholds to minimize false positives while ensuring timely issue detection.
• Continuously improve monitoring coverage and observability across enterprise environments.
Infrastructure Monitoring
• Monitor Windows and Linux servers, VMware environments, and cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Monitor databases, middleware, storage, and network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud engineering teams to identify capacity trends and performance issues.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production environments.
Application Performance Monitoring
• Monitor application performance, transaction flows, and service dependencies using Dynatrace.
• Support Real User Monitoring (RUM) and Synthetic Monitoring.
• Partner with development and application support teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
• Analyze and troubleshoot application and system performance issues.
Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis
• Participate in production incident response related to system performance and availability.
• Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Identify monitoring gaps and recommend improvements.
• Support post-incident reviews and implementation of preventive measures.
Continuous Improvement
• Enhance monitoring standards, documentation, and operational procedures.
• Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations, dashboards, and alert strategies.
• Support integration of monitoring platforms with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools.
• Assist in automating monitoring processes through scripting and tooling.
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support, site reliability engineering (SRE), or enterprise monitoring.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or comparable Application Performance Monitoring (APM) platforms.
Required Technical Skills
• Hands-on experience configuring and administering Dynatrace.
• Experience monitoring Windows and Linux servers.
• Experience supporting VMware or other virtualized environments.
• Experience monitoring cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of Application Performance Monitoring (APM).
• Experience creating dashboards, alerts, health checks, and monitoring policies.
• Experience performing performance analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing concepts.
• Experience monitoring databases, middleware, and enterprise applications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages.
• Experience monitoring Kubernetes or containerized environments.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud and microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, or government.
Soft Skills
