Overview
A State of Florida Agency is seeking a Senior Enterprise Data Architect for a fixed-term contract to support statewide enterprise data modernization initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and implementing a scalable, secure, and cloud-aligned data integration framework supporting critical enterprise systems.
The position plays a pivotal role in transforming enterprise data assets—including applications, databases, interfaces, automated processes, and reporting platforms—into a connected, governed, and analytics-ready ecosystem aligned with strategic priorities such as safety, mobility, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on, on-site role in Tallahassee, FL, requiring close collaboration with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Data Architecture & Integration
Design and implement an enterprise data integration framework including:
Integration of location and spatial data with engineering datasets
A centralized integration backbone supporting ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, orchestration, and service endpoints
Standardized canonical data schemas across enterprise domains
Architect interoperable data flows enforcing lineage, stewardship, and “collect once, use many” principles
Ensure compatibility with cloud-first architecture using platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, Informatica, and PostgreSQL
Design RESTful APIs for spatial and engineering data
Enable data interoperability across internal and external systems
Current State Assessment & Impact Analysis
Review enterprise systems to identify data silos, schema inconsistencies, and governance gaps
Analyze and validate existing data models and interfaces
Conduct dependency and impact analysis to ensure reporting and application functionality is not disrupted
Engage stakeholders to document integration requirements and business needs
Data Modeling & Framework Design
Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for key domains (financial, roadway characteristics, work program administration)
Redesign enterprise data models to support scalability and long-term modernization
Integrate spatial data with GIS systems
Align enterprise architecture with industry and public-sector best practices
Data Governance & Quality
Implement governance structures, metadata standards, stewardship roles, and lineage tracking
Design and automate data quality controls for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness
Enhance and streamline ETL processes for scheduled and near-real-time integration
Align governance and metadata practices with Informatica and Snowflake capabilities
Technical Leadership & Strategic Support
Serve as a senior technical leader and internal consultant
Provide architectural guidance, standards, and best practices
Mentor technical team members and support change management initiatives
Collaborate with leadership on implementation roadmaps and modernization strategy
Deliverables
Current-state assessment technical memoranda (financial and roadway domains)
Enterprise data models, schemas, architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, and API specifications
Data quality and ETL enhancement documentation
Governance framework and metadata standards
Phased implementation roadmap with milestones and deliverables
Implementation playbooks and training materials
Regular stakeholder briefings and progress presentations
Required QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
(Equivalent work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis)
Experience
10+ years of experience with enterprise database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
7+ years in a senior data architect or data engineering role
Extensive experience designing enterprise data models and ETL pipelines
Strong background in financial data systems, governance, and data quality
Proven experience with Azure, Snowflake, Informatica, and PostgreSQL
Experience supporting analytics and reporting platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DB2
Experience with Informatica or comparable enterprise integration platforms
Experience supporting large-scale public-sector or enterprise systems
Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Work Environment
On-site position only in Tallahassee, FL
No remote or hybrid work options
High-visibility role supporting statewide enterprise data modernization
Hiring Timeline & Start Date
