Senior Lifecycle Marketing Strategist (Contractor / Remote)
About the Role
Shaw/Scott is seeking a strategic, data-driven, and forward-thinking Senior Marketing Strategist who thrives on solving complex challenges and shaping the future of customer engagement. This role is ideal for someone who blends deep technical and analytical expertise with a creative, solutions-focused mindset—someone who is energized by big ideas, not slowed by perceived blockers, and who consistently pushes the boundaries of what’s possible.
You’ll serve as a thought leader for both our clients and our internal teams, translating trends, technologies, and data insights into bold, actionable strategies. In this role, you’ll be expected to stay ahead of our fast-moving industry, bring innovation into every engagement, and champion fresh approaches that challenge the status quo. The ideal candidate will also bring deep expertise in email modernization practices ensuring clients are prepared to leverage the next generation of personalization, automation, and scalable creative solutions. A key expectation of this role is to lead the charge in AI readiness—partnering with clients to assess, prepare, and evolve their marketing ecosystems for the integration of artificial intelligence. This includes designing strategies for AI-powered automation, hyper-personalization, predictive analytics, and real-time optimization, while ensuring data, creative assets, and workflows are structured for scalable AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Lead data-driven strategic initiatives across email, SMS, mobile, and emerging channels, leveraging technical expertise and analytics to guide client success
Lead modernization initiatives within client email programs, incorporating modular design systems, scalable templates, and AI-ready frameworks that future-proof marketing capabilities.
Drive comprehensive AI readiness efforts by recommending systems and practices that enable clients to seamlessly adopt and scale AI-driven marketing technologies across channels
Translate complex customer, behavioral, and campaign data into clear, high-impact insights and actionable recommendations
Develop measurement frameworks, segmentation models, and testing roadmaps that drive innovation and optimize performance
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, inspiring them with forward-thinking strategies and solution-oriented approaches to challenges
Continuously scan the marketplace for emerging trends, tools, and technologies, incorporating them into client strategies and internal best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—creatives, developers, data analysts, campaign managers—to bring big-picture strategies to life
Deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and playbooks that communicate complex strategies in a compelling, client-friendly way
Ensure all presentations are audience-appropriate and crafted to tell a clear, compelling story demonstrating strategic vision and measurable business impact
Show up as confident and fluent in executive-level dialogue, and be able to connect marketing initiatives to overarching business goals and priorities
Actively contribute to Shaw/Scott’s thought leadership by sharing insights, publishing perspectives, and elevating the company’s presence in the industry
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in digital marketing strategy, with demonstrated expertise in data analytics, technical platforms, and cross-channel integration
Proven track record of innovative problem-solving and delivering measurable impact for clients
Understanding of marketing technology ecosystems—including ESPs, CDPs, analytics tools, segmentation platforms, and data privacy best practices
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with comfort in data visualization
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills—able to bridge the gap between technical complexity and executive-level decision-making. Must be adept at engaging with high-level stakeholders and capable of translating complex strategies into language and concepts that resonate
Self-starting, organized, and adaptable—able to manage multiple projects without losing sight of the strategic vision.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
