Machine Learning Scientist
UK | Remote | Outside | 3 - 6 months
A leading global marketplace is looking for a Machine Learning Scientist to help shape how millions of people discover and interact with products every day. You’ll join a collaborative team focused on applying cutting-edge ML techniques to solve large-scale ranking and recommendation challenges.
What you’ll do
• Design and build machine learning models that improve personalisation and search relevance
• Run large-scale experiments to validate ideas and guide product direction
• Partner with teams across engineering, product, and data to translate business needs into scalable ML solutions
• Stay up to date with new ML research and apply emerging methods across NLP, vision, and recommendation systems
• Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
What you’ll bring
• Experience as a Machine Learning Scientist or similar, delivering models into production
• Strong understanding of ML concepts and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Transformers
• Proficiency in Python and a good grasp of MLOps and data engineering practices
• Collaborative mindset and comfort working in cross-functional teams
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn new techniques
Nice to have
• Experience with learning-to-rank or recommendation systems
• Knowledge of deep learning or large language models
• Familiarity with A/B testing, Databricks, PySpark, or AWS
