Job Title: Marketing Manager
Location: Hybrid: Redmond, WA
Duration: 12 to 18 months (Chance of extensions)
Contract on W2
Typical Day in the Role
β’ Purpose of the Team: This is the Azure Business and Market Strategy team within Azure Marketing. The team focuses on analyzing the entire cloud market, conducting research, gathering new data points, and monitoring both external news and internal MS research. Their work includes connecting with other internal teams to identify and leverage internal research, consolidating key findings, and supporting strategic projects for leadership. The team is small and aims to flag important data, support special projects, and help with reporting and agenda management for the broader marketing organization.
β’ Key projects:
1. Identity internal data sources
β’ Identify existing internal data sources and reports on customer and competitive intelligence
β’ Proactively keep a pulse on internal MS data sources and reports
β’ Regularly connect with MS teams that have this intelligence (i.e. R&I, CXP)
1. Analyze and report key insights succinctly
β’ Analyze internal reports for strategic insights
β’ Create succinct reports that summarize key findings for the team
β’ Attend weekly team think time and contribute to the discussion
1. Support special projects with research
β’ Support larger strategic projects with desk research
β’ Help team prepare key market updates to share with the leadership team
1. Support team ROB
β’ Draft key deliverables to be included in exec communications
β’ Help establish a good ROB for the team, including agenda management, tracking open items, and offsite support
β’ Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 20% meetings, 80% heads down. This may vary per week, and may have more meetings while ramping up.
Candidate Requirements
β’ Years of Experience Required: 10+ overall years of experience in the field.
β’ Degrees or certifications required: Not required, nice to have.
β’ Disqualifiers: Candidates who are early in their career and do not have cloud experience will not be eligible for the role. Cloud and seniority are the key things the team is looking for.
β’ Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain marketing experience. Someone who is comfortable being a self-starter and proactive in the role.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
1. Minimum 8+ years experience with Cloud and AI experience, especially with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
1. Minimum 8+ years experience with Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to review, distill, and highlight key findings from complex reports
1. Minimum 8+ years experience with extensive experience in the cloud technology space

Weβre looking to gather market insights into the top 3 cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and Azure). Please listen to their parent companyβs latest earnings call (Amazon and Alphabet) and provide a report on the key insights related to their cloud division. The report should be a slide deck, emphasizing only key takeaways succinctly.
This exercise is designed to prepare for MS earnings preparation discussions and the talk track, specifically by analyzing what our competitors have shared. Having this context allows my leadership (marketing) to position Azure effectively in MS earnings release scripts. Please note we are not looking for a deep financial analysis for finance leadership, as our job in marketing is more about the messages and the progress, but of course, understanding financials is critical to interpret the results.
