Role description
Job Summary
Senior Payment Engineer (NYC, Hybrid):
• Location: New York, NY (Hybrid, 2–3 days onsite per week; must be local for onsite interview)
• Client: financial services
• Experience Required: 10–12 years in payment systems design, implementation, and support
Key Responsibilities
• Implement new projects and changes for local/foreign currency payment platforms, reporting, automation, middleware, and APIs
• Propose, design, document, and troubleshoot solutions for payment environments (including SWIFT, UAEFTS, ISO 20022)
• Manage vendors and drive specialized projects (middleware/API gateways)
• Analyze business requirements, create technical specifications, and validate technical documentation
• Lead system integration and ensure project delivery within SLAs
• Provide 24/7 rotational support, perform incident root cause analysis, and deploy fixes
• Maintain system stability, application availability, patching, and alerting
• Ensure compliance with audit, ISG, and lean frameworks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors, provide status updates/documentation, and facilitate knowledge sharing/training
• Analyze and resolve system/process defects, prioritize tasks, and implement solutions
Essential Skills & Qualifications
• Deep expertise in payment platforms: UAEFTS, SWIFT, FED, CHIPS, ISO 20022, SWIFT Alliance/Gateway
• Proficiency in API and middleware technologies (e.g., MQ, API Gateways)
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server (including SSIS, SSRS) and .NET
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and deliver results within deadlines
