About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for you to become our Senior People Data Analyst.
Your role will be to to deliver high quality, commercially grounded workforce analytics and insight that supports strategic decision making across the People Function and wider operational leadership.
The role translates people data into actionable intelligence, providing trend analysis, scenario modelling and impact assessments (including financial and operational implications of workforce decisions).
Working collaboratively with teams across, People, Technology, Operations and support functions, the postholder ensures that people-related decisions are evidence-based, financially aligned and performance oriented.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Workforce Analytics – lead analysis of workforce data (headcount, attrition, absence, productivity, engagement, pay, span of control, skill mix) to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities aligned to business strategy
• Workforce planning & Scenario modelling – Develop predictive models and scenario analysis to inform workforce planning, organisational design and demand forecasting decisions in partnership with Workforce & Demand and HR
• Financial & Change Impact modelling – Model the financial and operational impact of people related initiatives (e.g. restructures, pay awards, benefit changes, TUPE, redundancy scenarios, new role creation), ensuring alignment with business finance and FP&A assumptions
• Insight Generation & Narrative development – Translate complex workforce data into clear, commercially relevant insight for senior leaders, linking people metrics to operational performance and cost outcomes
• People Performance Reporting & KPI Frameworks – Design and maintain robust dashboards and KPIS that align people metrics with business objectives, improving automation and reducing manual reporting dependenc
• Data Integrity & Governance – Ensure workforce data accuracy, consistency and compliance by working closely with HR systems, Data teams and Technology platforms to improve data quality and governance standards
• Continuous Improvement & Analytics maturity – Drive the evolution of people analytics capability by leveraging technology, enhancing self-service insight, and embedded data-driven decision making across the People function.
What we are looking for:
• Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Data Analytics, Business, HR Analytics, Statistics or related discipline
• Significant experience in workforce analytics, people insight or HR data analysis within a complex organisation
• Proven experience in financial modelling and cost-of-change analysis relating to workforce initiatives
• Strong analytical capability with experience in trend analysis, forecasting and scenario modelling
• Experience producing executive-level insight and narrative reporting
• Advanced proficiency in analytics and visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, advanced Excel; SQL desirable)
• Experience working with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM or similar)
• Strategic Insight - Ability to connect workforce data to broader organisational strategy and performance outcomes
• Commercial Acumen - Understands cost drivers and financial implications of people decisions; aligns analytics to value creation and efficiency
• Analytical Rigor - Applies structured, hypothesis-driven thinking with high attention to data accuracy and integrity
• Influencing & Communication - Converts complex analysis into clear, persuasive insight for senior stakeholders
• Collaboration & Partnership - Works effectively across HR, Finance, Operations and Data teams within a matrix structure
• Technology Enablement - Leverages systems and tools to automate, enhance and mature analytics capability
• Continuous Improvement Mindset - Proactively seeks opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes and insight impact
• Experience operating within a shared service or matrix organisational model is desirable
• Exposure to organisational design and workforce efficiency analysis is desirable
• Knowledge of public sector workforce structures or regulated environments is desirable
• Professional qualification or certification in analytics, HR or finance is desirable
• Experience implementing or optimising people analytics systems is desirable
