Summary
Chamberlain Advisors is seeking a Senior Platform/DevOps Engineer – Technical Architect to lead automation-at-scale and Kubernetes enablement across our client’s cloud platform. In this hybrid role, you’ll bring deep expertise in infrastructure, DevOps, and architecture to design and implement reusable, secure, and policy-compliant platform solutions. This is a high-impact contract-to-hire opportunity to advance platform engineering principles, enforce Infrastructure as Code and GitOps, and build resilient platforms that scale across diverse environments. This position is ideal for a hands-on architect with strong Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), and automation leadership experience, who thrives in a collaborative, engineering-driven culture.
What You’ll Be Accountable For
• Architect and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Bicep for provisioning and managing Azure cloud infrastructure
• Design and deliver self-service automation frameworks enabling standardized deployments across product teams
• Serve as Kubernetes SME, operationalizing secure, scalable AKS clusters using GitOps tools (ArgoCD or Flux), Helm, and resource management policies
• Integrate Policy as Code with tools like OPA/Gatekeeper and Azure Policy to ensure governance and compliance
• Lead development of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to enable declarative deployments
• Champion Observability as Code by implementing telemetry frameworks using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Manage secure baseline configurations using Configuration as Code tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Drive automation efforts that reduce toil and infrastructure drift across development and production environments
• Collaborate with security, engineering, and cloud ops teams to deliver policy-driven platforms that scale
• Provide technical mentorship, share platform best practices, and foster a DevOps-first, “you build it, you run it” culture
What Qualifications You Need
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 8–10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Automation, with strong emphasis on Azure infrastructure
• Demonstrated hands-on experience as a Technical Architect or senior engineer leading infrastructure design and governance
• Advanced knowledge and practical experience with Kubernetes and AKS, including workload management, security boundaries, and scaling strategies
• Strong command of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) and automation scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Expertise with GitOps workflows and tools like ArgoCD or Flux
• Deep experience with CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Familiarity with Policy as Code (OPA/Gatekeeper), RBAC, and compliance enforcement
• Proficiency in Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry)
• Working knowledge of Configuration as Code platforms like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Demonstrated ability to coach others, lead technical discussions, and align platform engineering efforts with business goals
