job summary: Senior Power BI Developer (Finance Special Ops): We are seeking an elite Senior Power BI Developer for a high-visibility, 6-month mission (with huge extension potential) supporting Global Finance 2027 goals. You will join a specialized 2-person technical team with 100% end-to-end ownership-no business red tape and no IT bottlenecks. The Profile: Pure Builder: Expert-level DAX, M, and native visualizations. Tech Stack: Power BI (Expert), Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and T-SQL. DataOps: Implementation of CI/CD, version control, and intensive testing. The Vibe: Energizing, structured, and "anti-sleeping pill." You turn chaos into high-quality code. The Setup: Location: Hybrid (NJ) or Remote. Focus: 100% technical delivery; zero business engagement. location: Telecommute job type: Contract salary: $85 - 93 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Job Responsibilities Core Development & Engineering • Daily Product Delivery: Develop and deploy high-quality Power BI information products on a daily cadence within a fast-paced environment. • Advanced Programming: Write complex DAX calculations and Power Query (M) scripts to handle sophisticated Finance data models. • Data Modeling: Design and maintain advanced database models, including Star Schemas, Composite Models, and Aggregation Tables. • Visual Excellence: Build intuitive, high-performance dashboards using native visuals and visualization best practices. • Tool Mastery: Utilize external tools (Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit) to manage and optimize the Power BI environment. Ops, Quality & Governance • DataOps Implementation: Implement and advocate for structured DevOps workflows, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and collaborative development. • Intensive Testing: Take full accountability for data accuracy and functional integrity through rigorous, "deep-dive" testing protocols. • Structure & Documentation: Gradually transform technical chaos into organized, documented, and scalable business wins. • Optimization: Monitor and improve the performance of the Storage and Formula Engines to ensure enterprise-grade speed. Team Collaboration & Strategy • Direct Partnership: Collaborate daily with the Hiring Manager to define technical tasks and execute the 2027 Finance roadmap. • Technical Ownership: Manage 100% of the end-to-end solution-from SQL Server logic to the final Power BI App-without external IT involvement. • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify risks and errors, maintaining a "never-settle" attitude toward quality and performance. • Strategic "No": Act as a technical gatekeeper, ensuring that development follows best practices rather than "shortcut" requests. qualifications: Job Qualifications: Senior Power BI Developer Experience: 5-7+ years of deep technical development within the Microsoft BI stack (specifically Power BI and SQL Server). Power BI Mastery: Expert-level DAX (Calculation Groups, Context Evaluation) and Power Query/M. Architectural Skills: Proven experience building Enterprise-grade models (Composite Models, Aggregation Tables, and RLS/OLS). Toolkit: Power-user of external tools: Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and ALM Toolkit. DataOps/DevOps: Practical experience with CI/CD, version control, and automated deployment workflows. T-SQL: Strong programming skills in MS SQL Server (Procedures, CTEs, and performance tuning). Testing Rigor: A disciplined approach to intensive data validation and functional QA. Soft Skills: High energy, structured, and proactive. Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, "2-person team" environment with minimal supervision.
