Senior Power BI Developer (Data & Reporting Solutions)

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – Onsite + Remote) Duration: April 2026 – August 2026 (Extension Possible) Hours: Up to 1,200 hours Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST Candidate Location Requirement: Candidates must currently reside in the Austin, TX area Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI Developer to support enterprise reporting and application enhancement initiatives within a complex technology environment. This role focuses on designing and extending Power BI reporting solutions while supporting enhancements to existing enterprise applications and underlying data models. The selected consultant will collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to improve reporting capabilities, support application maintenance, and ensure data accuracy and system reliability. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Power BI development, SQL-based data analysis, and enterprise application environments, along with familiarity supporting applications across multiple environments and participating in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Key Responsibilities Power BI Development & Reporting • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions • Extend reporting capabilities by integrating enterprise application data into Power BI • Ensure reporting accuracy, performance, and usability for business stakeholders Application & Data Model Enhancements • Support updates to application business logic and system data models • Work with development teams to enhance application functionality and reporting features • Assist with troubleshooting issues and implementing improvements to existing systems Data Integration & SQL Development • Write and optimize SQL queries for relational databases • Support data extraction, transformation, and analysis for reporting purposes • Ensure reliable data integration across multiple application environments Testing & Quality Assurance • Participate in unit testing and quality assurance processes • Maintain code quality standards including testing coverage and security compliance • Conduct peer code reviews and support defect resolution activities Troubleshooting & System Support • Investigate and resolve application defects and reporting issues • Perform root cause analysis for system and reporting problems • Provide support across development, testing, and production environments Collaboration & Documentation • Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, analysts, and operations staff • Maintain technical documentation and development standards • Support ongoing system improvements and operational needs Required Qualifications • 8+ years of experience in data analytics or reporting development • Strong experience with: • Power BI development and dashboard design • SQL development for relational databases • Working with enterprise applications and reporting systems • Supporting software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities • Experience participating in unit testing and quality assurance practices • Experience working across multiple application environments Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Angular or modern UI frameworks • Experience with Crystal Reports or legacy reporting tools • Experience supporting enterprise-scale systems or government technology environments • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
