Senior Python Developer

Senior Python Developer We're seeking a Senior Backend Developer with expertise in Python and Node.js to support a mission-critical web application project. The application is nearing completion, and this role will focus on finalizing backend services, ensuring performance, scalability, and seamless integration with the front end (Next.js/React). The developer will also support deployment, optimization, and ongoing long term maintenance in a cloud environment. Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain secure and scalable backend services and APIs using Python and Node.js. • Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure smooth integration with the Next.js/React application. • Optimize backend performance for speed, scalability, and reliability, particularly ahead of launch. • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues identified during QA and performance testing. • Support deployment and operations in AWS, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). • Implement authentication, authorization, and other security features to protect sensitive data. • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following modern development best practices. • Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions with the broader project team. Requirements • Strong proficiency in Python (Django, Flask, or FastAPI) and Node.js (Express.js, Nest.js). • Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and integrating with front-end applications. • Proficiency with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, and ORM frameworks. • Familiarity with cloud-based deployments (AWS ) and DevOps practices. • Experience with version control (Git/GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines. • Solid understanding of web application security best practices. Preferred Skills • Experience with asynchronous processing (Celery, asyncio, or messaging queues). • Familiarity with microservices and modern distributed system design. • Prior experience supporting enterprise-scale, regulated web applications (healthcare, finance, or government). • Knowledge of accessibility and Section 508 requirements.
