Senior Robotic Ai-Perception Engineer (Contractor)

Senior Robotics AI / Perception Engineer (Contract) Primary Location: Warren, MI V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for an Senior Robotics AI / Perception Engineer (Contract) for our premier client in Warren, MI. Relocation: Required within 3 weeks if not local to Warren, MI Knowledge And Skills • Strong passion for robotics and applying AI to real-world systems • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field • (Bachelor’s degree considered with an exceptional track record) • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying: • AI/ML and perception systems on robotic platforms • Computer vision using sensors such as mono/stereo cameras, RGB-D, LiDAR, or event cameras • Proficiency in Python and/or C++ • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow • Solid understanding of robotics fundamentals including: • Perception, SLAM, navigation, and planning • Strong self-motivation with a continuous learning mindset. Preferred Qualifications (Nice To Have) • PhD in Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related research field • Hands-on experience with: • Autonomous vehicles (AV), ADAS, or industrial robotics • Manufacturing or large-scale automation environments • Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS/ROS2, Nav2, or MoveIt • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices What You’ll Do Job Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and deploy perception algorithms for: • Object detection, segmentation, classification, and localization • Scene understanding and dynamic object tracking • Obstacle avoidance and path optimization • Integrate AI and computer vision models with ROS / ROS2 for real-time robotic deployment (e.g., mobile manipulators) • Build and maintain cloud-based pipelines for: • Data collection, annotation, preprocessing • Model training, evaluation, and validation • Collaborate closely with hardware, controls, motion planning, and mapping teams • Develop offline tools for testing perception models in simulation and real-world environments • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to academic and industrial collaborations • Generate intellectual property, document results, and publish technical papers Interested?
