We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in migrating on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS. This role supports data platform modernization through database migrations, Python-based data processing, AWS data pipeline development, and performance monitoring for RDS and DynamoDB environments. Ideal for professionals experienced in cloud BAU operations, data modeling, and ensuring production stability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS (RDS, DynamoDB) and Snowflake, including archiving and validation.
Develop Python scripts for data creation, transformation, bulk loads, and ETL processes.
Design, build, and maintain AWS data pipelines using S3, Glue, Lambda, and related services.
Create logical/physical data models and support application teams with schema design.
Monitor database performance, build operational metrics/dashboards, and tune for efficiency.
Handle data validation, migration testing, and support for PostgreSQL/SQL Server/DynamoDB environments.
Qualifications
10+ years in Database Administration, Data Engineering, or related roles.
5+ years hands-on AWS and Snowflake experience.
Strong problem-solving for production stability and hybrid cloud environments.
Required Skills & Experience (10+ Years Hands-On)
On-premises SQL Server to AWS/Snowflake data migration, including archiving.
AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), or equivalent tools.
AWS services: RDS, DynamoDB, S3, PostgreSQL, Glue, Lambda, Snowflake.
Python scripting for data processing, transformation, and bulk loads.
Building AWS data pipelines and data modeling (logical/physical schemas).
Supporting application data environments and BAU operations.
Data management on AWS (Glue Data Catalog, Data Zone, API Gateway).
Version control with GitHub and AWS CodePipeline.
Overall Database Administration/Data Engineering in SQL Server, AWS, and Snowflake environments.
Preferred Skills
