Senior Staff Mapping and Navigation Engineer

Senior Staff Mapping and Navigation Engineer We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mapping and Navigation Engineer with a strong focus on machine learning to join our growing team.  In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge mapping and navigation solutions for ADAS. You will work on challenging problems related to Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), state estimation, and optimization, leveraging the power of machine learning to achieve robust and accurate performance in complex environments. Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and implement advanced mapping and localization algorithms, including SLAM, visual odometry, and sensor fusion. - Research and apply machine learning techniques to enhance the performance and robustness of mapping and localization systems. This may include deep learning for feature extraction, place recognition, or map understanding. - Develop and optimize state estimation algorithms, such as Kalman filters, particle filters, and factor graphs, for accurate and reliable pose estimation. - Implement and evaluate optimization techniques for map building and localization, including bundle adjustment and graph optimization. - Work with various sensor data, including lidar, cameras, IMUs, WSS, and GPS, to create robust and accurate maps and localization systems. - Develop and maintain software in C++ and/or Python. - Collaborate with other engineers to integrate mapping and localization solutions into larger systems. - Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving software quality. - Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in mapping, localization, and machine learning. - Contribute to patent applications and publications. Qualifications: - M.S. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on mapping, localization, and machine learning. - Strong understanding of fundamental concepts in SLAM, state estimation, optimization, and sensor fusion. - Proven experience in developing and implementing mapping and localization algorithms. - Proficiency in machine learning techniques and experience applying them to mapping and localization problems. Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus. - Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python. - Experience with robotics software frameworks (e.g., ROS) is a plus. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Excellent communication and presentation skills. Bonus Points: - Experience with specific sensor modalities (e.g., lidar, cameras, IMUs). - Experience with real-time embedded systems. - Contributions to open-source projects related to mapping and localization. - Publications in top-tier conferences or journals. - Experience with GPU programming (e.g., CUDA).
