Senior PowerBuilder Developer (Contract, Remote - US) We are seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Senior PowerBuilder Developer for a contract position. This is a fully remote role, and candidates must be based within the United States. Responsibilities: As a Senior PowerBuilder Developer, you will be responsible for: • Designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-quality software solutions using PowerBuilder. • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing complex PowerBuilder applications, including bug fixes, performance tuning, and feature enhancements. • Collaborating closely with business analysts, product owners, and other technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust technical designs and solutions. • Developing and optimizing database objects (stored procedures, functions, views, tables) in relational database systems such as Sybase ASE/ASA, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle. • Participating in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines. • Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers, as needed. • Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, API documentation, and deployment guides. • Staying current with PowerBuilder versions, industry trends, and emerging technologies to recommend and implement improvements. • Working independently and proactively to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote work environment. Required Skills and Experience: • Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on professional experience in PowerBuilder development (preferably with recent versions like PowerBuilder 2017, 2019, or 2022). • Exceptional proficiency in PowerScript, DataWindows, and the PowerBuilder Integrated Development Environment (IDE). • Strong understanding and practical application of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles. • Extensive experience with relational databases, including advanced SQL query writing, performance tuning, and schema design (Sybase ASE/ASA, MS SQL Server, Oracle). • Proficiency with version control systems (Git, SVN, TFS). • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Proven ability to work effectively and independently in a remote team setting, demonstrating self-discipline and strong time management. • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Skills and Experience: • Experience with PowerBuilder application modernization or migration projects. • Familiarity with integrating PowerBuilder applications with other systems using Web Services (SOAP/REST APIs) or other middleware technologies. • Knowledge of agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). • Experience with automated testing frameworks or unit testing in PowerBuilder. • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for PowerBuilder applications. • Prior experience in financial services, healthcare, manufacturing is a plus.
