Senior/MIid Data Scientist

Payrate: $50.00 - $60.00 /hr. Summary: This role is critical due to recent Return-to-Office (RTO) impacts and team transitions, including the departure of senior and mid-level talent. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership in end-to-end project execution, and the ability to build scalable, production-ready data solutions. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and trusted vendors to support high-priority initiatives across the Marine division. Key Responsibilities: • Project Leadership: • Lead complex data science projects from concept through deployment, ensuring scalability and maintainability. • Serve as the primary data science partner for the NPR/NPI team, with potential handoff of long-term ownership to other internal groups. • Data Science & Engineering: • Build and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes using Python, SQL, and Snowflake. • Apply machine learning techniques including supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning, with a focus on image processing and identification. • Leverage GenAI to enhance automation, insight generation, and model performance. • Collaboration & Communication: • Work closely with internal leads trusted vendors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery. • Translate complex technical insights into business-friendly language for broader understanding and adoption. • Develop and Implement Models: • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and AI solutions to address business challenges such as pricing, demand forecasting, and defect minimization. • Data Mining & Analysis: • Conduct in-depth data mining and statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and key insights from large volumes of data. • Data Modeling: • Create and optimize data models to support data-driven business decisions. • Collaboration: • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Commercial, Finance, Manufacturing) to identify use cases and align data science initiatives with business objectives. • Communication: • Present findings, insights, and recommendations to management and other stakeholders using data visualization tools. • Stay Current: • Keep up-to-date with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Required Technical Skills: • Python (strong proficiency) • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data manipulation, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and model development. • Machine Learning: supervised, unsupervised, deep learning, image processing/image identification • Strong knowledge of statistical tools and concepts, including machine learning, model development, validation, and deployment. • Data Engineering / ETL • SQL / Snowflake • GenAI experience (Using for data collection, modeling, analysis, summarizing and combining it with ML for predictions, optimization, etc...) Nice to Have: • Power BI for creating compelling visualization and reporting • GenAI expertise (beyond basic experience) • Azure DevOps / Azure Repos Soft Skills: • Communication: Ability to translate complex technical insights into business-friendly language. • Problem-Solving: Creative and effective solutions to complex data-driven challenges • Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams and openness to feedback • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Pay Transparency:  The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $50.00  - $60.00/hr.  This role is also eligible for a performance-based incentive plan.  Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.  Full-time employees are eligible for benefits including medical, dental, and vision benefits, 10 paid holidays, open paid time off, four weeks paid parental leave, 401(k) plan participation, life and disability insurance, commuter benefits, mobile phone reimbursement and wellness reimbursement.
