Role description
OVERVIEW
We are currently searching for a skilled Service Engineer to join a well-known clientβs team as a contract role in Santa Monica, California. The Service Engineer will support testing and development activities by implementing, configuring, and enhancing the Benchling Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) platform. This role will have a direct impact on laboratory efficiency, data integrity, and scientific workflows within Process Development and Analytical Testing, making it an exciting career opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
β’ Partner closely with key business and scientific stakeholders to understand ELN business requirements and objectives
β’ Analyze existing laboratory processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and automation
β’ Configure the Benchling ELN platform to meet user, functional, and compliance requirements
β’ Design and develop custom workflows, automations, and system integrations
β’ Develop dashboards and custom label reports leveraging Bartender
β’ Support Zebra printers and barcoding technologies within lab environments
β’ Perform development testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
β’ Draft and maintain technical and system documentation
β’ Deliver technical solutions aligned with sprint schedules and assess development effort
β’ Monitor system performance and ensure ongoing stability and reliability of the ELN platform
β’ Follow development best practices, including SDLC and computer system validation standards
EXPERIENCE
β’ Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing and configuring Benchling ELN
β’ Experience working within a scientific research or laboratory environment required
β’ Experience developing dashboards and custom reports using Bartender
β’ Experience with Zebra printers and lab barcoding technologies
β’ Demonstrated experience with software development, testing, and troubleshooting
EDUCATION
β’ Minimum of a Bachelorβs Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline required
