Simulator Engineer
Location: Corvallis, OR (with occasional travel)

System One is seeking a highly skilled Simulator Engineer to join our clientβs Plant Operations team. This is a direct hire opportunity with a cutting-edge organization developing next-generation simulation technologies for advanced nuclear energy systems.
The Simulator Engineer will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing software models that support full-scope control room simulators. This individual will work closely with plant operators and engineers to ensure high-fidelity simulation of plant systems, providing robust tools for training, analysis, and operations support.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Accurately translate engineering documentation into dynamic plant models.
β’ Develop, test, and maintain simulation software to support operator training and plant operations.
β’ Identify, troubleshoot, and document software defects, offering solutions and implementing corrective actions.
β’ Collaborate with engineers, operators, and technical teams to validate simulator accuracy and ensure high-quality deliverables.
β’ Support hardware setup and integration for simulator environments (computers, monitors, cabling, etc.).
β’ Provide technical solutions grounded in sound engineering principles and operational requirements.
β’ Contribute to long-term simulation development strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
β’ Occasional travel required for simulator setup, integration, and testing at offsite locations.
Qualifications
β’ Education: B.S. degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or related technical field (ABET-accredited program preferred).
β’ Experience:
β’ Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
β’ At least 3 years of demonstrable work with modeling and simulator development.
β’ Strong proficiency in Fortran, C++, and/or Python.
β’ Hands-on experience with GSE simulation software (SimExec, JTopmeret, JElectric).
β’ Familiarity with project management and version control tools (Git, GitHub/GitLab).
β’ Knowledge of thermal hydraulic system codes (e.g., RELAP5, Trace) and neutronic analysis codes (e.g., Simulate 3, MCNP) highly desirable.
β’ Understanding of numerical methods for fluid flow and heat transfer modeling preferred.
β’ Ability to interpret P&ID drawings and model plant electrical systems (breakers, busses, devices) is a plus.
