Role description
Role Title: Senior Snowflake Administrator
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Duration: 6 months to start, potential for contract to hire
Preferred Location: local to Buffalo, NY - 4 days per week in office
Role Description:
Provide technical administrative support for Snowflake systems and applications. Partner with internal and external teams to design solutions that meet the needs of Snowflake-based applications. Build resilient, scalable, and maintainable systems for the enterprise data platform team and all interfacing applications.
Primary Responsibilities
Snowflake
• Create and configure new Snowflake accounts as needed
• Design, implement, and support replication processes to ensure business continuity
• Design, implement, and support data-sharing solutions for both inbound and outbound data exchanges
• Design, implement, and support role-based access controls (RBAC) to properly secure enterprise data
• Monitor cost and performance across Snowflake accounts
• Assist application teams with troubleshooting
• Implement production application database changes when required
• Linux
• Provide first-level Linux administration support for Snowflake application servers
Requirements:
- Senior/seasoned DBA with 10 years of experience
• Need 5+ years of hands-on Snowflake administration and support experience (if they have less than 5 years of snowflake experience but have similar experience with Teradata or Oracle and some recent snowflake still send)
• Banking or other highly regulated industry is a plus
• Strong understanding of foundational cloud concepts
• Experience building in Azure
• Solid knowledge of Private DNS zones, Blob Storage (including storage tiers), Private Endpoints, and Private Link as they relate to Snowflake
• DevOps
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Comfort with code versioning tools (e.g., Git)
• Experience with first-level Linux administration support for Snowflake application servers
