Senior Snowflake Engineer
Data Engineering | Snowflake Platform Architecture |
Seeking a technical lead for a Snowflake data foundation and data transformation project for a CPG / Retail client! You will own platform architecture, data modeling, the semantic layer, and Snowflake ML configurati
on.
Key Responsibilities
• Stand up and administrate Snowflake Enterprise from ground zero; administrative workflows, user management, security & governance, environment standup, ingestion & ETL, and analytics enablement.
• Engagement lead with a small, highly involved executive team.
• Configure ingestion for NetSuite, NetStock, Shopify, and retail partner feeds.
• Design data transformation and aggregation patterns; complete historical backfill.
• Build unified masters across all sources with a single taxonomy, lifecycle status, and IDs.
• Build core data models: Unified Sales Fact, Inventory Positions, Retailer Sell-Through, Marketing and Web Analytics, Supplier/PO.
• Define semantic views and governed metrics in collaboration with business leads.
• Produce a cross-channel crosswalk and the unmatched exception report.
• Configure Cortex Analyst over signed-off semantic views.
• Configure spend controls: Resource Monitor, statement timeout, auto-suspend, Cortex model allowlist, per-user Cortex limits, Cortex Code caps, and an account Budget.
• Establish Day 1 observability using native Snowflake capabilities.
• Reconcile modeled totals to source systems.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years in data engineering, with production Snowflake delivery.
• Executive stakeholder engagement experience, able to translate complex requirements into functional explanations, and vice versa, delivered to a senior audience.
• Ability to train and upskill a business-focused, non-technical team on Snowflake and Cortex AI.
• Timely, responsive, and reliable for walkthroughs, demos, trainings, and tasks.
• Agile planning and execution.
• Hands-on Snowflake architecture: RBAC, row-access policies, warehouses, resource monitors, Time Travel.
• Dimensional and semantic data modeling across multi-source retail or commerce data.
• SQL and dbt for transformation and pipeline configuration.
• Experience integrating ERP, e-commerce, or third-party data feeds.
Technical Environment
• Platform: Snowflake Enterprise, Cortex AI, Cortex Analyst, Cortex Code, Snowflake ML.
• Applications: Streamlit (Snowflake-native applications)
• dbtTooling: Claude
• CodeSource systems: NetSuite, Shopify, NetStock, retailer portals (Sephora, ULTA, Boots), Circana, marketing platforms (Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok, Google Analytics), 3PL
Preferred:
• CPG or retail domain experience.
• Familiarity with S&OP data structures and forecasting inputs.
