Role description
Snowflake Developer Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid) Employment Type: 1 year contract (W2) with potential for ongoing renewal A growing technology team at our client is seeking a highly skilled, experienced Snowflake Architect/Developer. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Snowflake, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud data architecture. You will work closely with internal architecture and engineering teams to deliver scalable, high‑performance solutions that support analytics and reporting needs. This role requires strong knowledge of Snowflake features and best practices, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams. Key Responsibilities • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize query performance, resource usage, and storage. • User & Access Management: Manage users, roles, and permissions to maintain data security and compliance. • Data Integration: Support and manage data loading, transformations, and extraction processes. • Troubleshooting & Support: Resolve Snowflake‑related issues, including performance bottlenecks and query optimization. • Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of configurations, procedures, and system changes; prepare performance and usage reports. • Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, analysts, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and platform performance. • Best Practices: Stay current on Snowflake advancements and recommend enhancements to improve functionality and efficiency. Qualifications & Experience • 5+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or database development. • 2+ years of hands‑on Snowflake experience (data modeling, performance tuning, security). • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. • Experience with source control (GitHub preferred), ETL/ELT tools, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred). • Exposure to AI tools is a plus. • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and analytics. • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills. • Experience integrating Snowflake with BI/reporting tools is a plus. Required Skills • Strong proficiency with Snowflake architecture and capabilities. • SQL expertise, including Snowflake‑specific optimization. • Experience with ETL tools and data integration processes. • Strong SQL and Python skills. • Database design and data modeling experience; familiarity with modeling tools. • Ability to drive continuous improvement and recommend enhancements. • Strong analytical and strategic thinking ability. • Motivation to learn and grow within the role. • Knowledge of Snowflake security features (access control, authentication, encryption, masking, secure views, etc.). • Experience in AWS environments. • Experience with Power BI and other BI/reporting tools. • Experience gathering business requirements and aligning them to technical solutions. • Experience with data pipelines and cloud‑based data automation. • Experience with identity and access management (Azure IDP is a plus). • Exposure to other RDBMS, cloud data warehouses, or big data platforms is a plus. Preferred Skills • Snowflake certification (SnowPro Core or Advanced). • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI). • Knowledge of T‑SQL, DevOps, and scripting.
