Role description
Solutions Architect. The successful candidate will work with a dedicated team to develop applications in support of a federal agency, including end-user reporting and analytics applications as well as platform monitoring and management tools. This role will report to the Deputy Program Manager. The ideal candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to support public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private companies in transforming their data into actionable insights.
What you will do:
β’ Work closely with government employees and other stakeholders to design solutions leveraging the agency's new cloud-based data platform, modernize their data infrastructure, and improve their data governance processes
β’ Code and architect enterprise applications in healthcare domain
β’ Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to understand the big picture, design and implement technical architectures that are flexible, reliable and scalable
β’ Work with clients to gather user input and specify business and technical requirements
β’ Translate requirements to design specifications and aide client's development teams in the implementation of platform solutions
β’ Architect cloud-based solutions, front-end, database, and reporting/visualization components, based on requirements and expected loads
β’ Architect Azure-based hybrid cloud applications and migrate data/applications from on-prem to cloud infrastructure
β’ Design and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies using Azure BLOB storage with consideration of RTO and RPO requirements
β’ Utilize NSGs for layer 4 Access Control Lists (ACLs) for incoming and outgoing packets
β’ Lead developers and visualization analysts through the implementation, ensuring adherence to client's development and testing processes as well as best practices for testing, code management, and deployment
β’ Other duties as assigned
Required Education:
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Required Experience:
β’ 10+ years experience working on software solutions
β’ 5+ years experience working with Azure and Amazon Web Services
β’ 5+ years experience with service-oriented architecture principles, software design patterns, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
β’ 5+ years experience in database design, SOAP, XML, JSON, Python, MS SQL and WebAPI
β’ 5+ years of business, functional, and technical analysis to generate requirements
β’ 5+ years experience with cloud security and application security based on OWASP
Required Skills:
β’ Strong oral and written communication skills
β’ Superior attention to detail
β’ Exceptional drive to deliver best-in-class software products
β’ Self-motivated to learn and support e2e lifecycle of activities
β’ Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
Preferred:
β’ Familiarity with VA infrastructure and data sources
β’ Proficiency in cloud architecture design patterns and best practices
β’ Strong experience with Azure cloud services
β’ Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift)
β’ Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
β’ Understanding of the unique design constraints of the U.S. Government (e.g., Section 508 Compliance)
β’ Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, HIPAA)
