Primary Focus: Migration from AX12 → D365, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, ADF, Lakehouse, ETL/ELT Strategy, Power BI
Role Summary
This individual will act as the technical lead and second-in-command to the Director of Data & Analytics. They will own end-to-end solution architecture, define standards, and lead the AX12 → D365 + Microsoft Fabric modernization efforts. Must be highly technical and capable of individually delivering complex components while steering the broader data strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and own the end-to-end data architecture for AX12 → D365 migration and Microsoft Fabric implementation.
• Lead design of data lakehouse architecture, ingestion frameworks, data modeling layers, governance, and pipelines.
• Architect and implement solutions using:
• Azure Synapse / Microsoft Fabric
• Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
• Azure SQL / Synapse Dedicated Pools
• Define ETL/ELT frameworks, orchestration patterns, modeling standards (Dimensional, Data Vault, or Lakehouse).
• Guide and mentor Data Engineers; set coding, testing, and data quality standards.
• Translate business/functional requirements into scalable technical designs.
• Implement CI/CD for data solutions using GitHub/Azure DevOps.
• Oversee data quality and testing strategies together with QA Engineer.
• Ensure security, compliance, and governance best practices (Purview, RBAC, lineage tracking).
• Support the Director in technical decision-making, solution reviews, and stakeholder communication.
Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years in data engineering, architecture, or analytics engineering.
• Proven experience migrating legacy ERPs (preferably AX12 → D365).
• Expert in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, ADF, and Azure cloud ecosystem.
• Strong data modeling skills: Star schema, Data Vault, Lakehouse, Delta Lake.
• Extensive hands-on development in Python, SQL, Spark.
• Experience building high-scale ELT pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, Git branching, automation.
• Strong communication skills, ability to engage leadership, challenge requirements, and drive design decisions.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small team.
Nice-to-Have
• Experience with manufacturing/finance/ERP data structures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, and REST API integrations.
• Background in ML/AI operationalization (not required but beneficial).
