Splunk Administrator
My name is Bill Stevens, and I have a new six month plus Splunk Administrator opportunity available for a major firm located in Holmdel, New Jersey and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania that could be of interest to you, please review my specification below and I am available at any time to speak with you so please feel free to call me. The work schedule will be hybrid three days a week in the office and two days remote, no exceptions. The ideal candidate must have residency within the New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania areas. Local candidates are highly preferred due to the fact that he/she must be in attendance in either of the firms Holmdel, New Jersey or Bethlehem, Pennsylvania office.
This position pays $80.00 per hour on a w-2 hourly basis or $90.00 per hour on a Corp-to-Corp basis.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Splunk Administrator with expertise in Splunk and Zenoss to join our IT operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of our observability tools to ensure optimal performance and reliability of our IT systems.
The ideal candidate should have:
Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT administration with a focus on Splunk and Zenoss.
Proven experience in managing and maintaining observability tools.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Splunk (including configuration, administration, and dashboard creation).
Proficiency in Zenoss (including setup, configuration, and maintenance).
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, applications, and networking.
Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash).
Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) is required.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in Splunk and/or Zenoss.
Experience with other monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration and Configuration:
Administer and configure Splunk and Zenoss platforms to meet organizational monitoring needs.
Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to observability tools to ensure they are up-to-date and secure.
Monitoring and Maintenance:
Continuously monitor the health and performance of the Splunk and Zenoss systems.
Ensure data integrity and availability within the observability platforms.
User Support and Training:
Provide support to internal users for Splunk and Zenoss, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving issues.
Develop and deliver training sessions for users to effectively utilize the monitoring tools.
Dashboard and Alert Management:
Create and manage dashboards, reports, and alerts in Splunk and Zenoss.
Work with stakeholders to define monitoring requirements and implement appropriate alerting mechanisms.
Data Management and Optimization:
Manage the ingestion, storage, and retention of data within Splunk and Zenoss.
Optimize system performance by tuning configurations and managing resource utilization.
Documentation and Best Practices:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures.
Develop and enforce best practices for monitoring and observability within the organization.
Collaboration and Incident Response:
Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
Participate in incident response efforts, using observability data to assist in troubleshooting and resolution.
