Role description
Role: Sr. Splunk Engineer
Duration: 3+ Months
Location: Bensalem, PA
• This role focuses on engineering, deploying, and managing a highly available, multi-site Splunk Enterprise platform, along with Splunk Enterprise Security (ES). The engineer is responsible for designing and implementing core components such as Cluster Manager, License Master, Deployer, Deployment Server, Monitoring Console, indexer clusters, and search head clusters. The role includes configuring Universal and Heavy Forwarders, building deployment apps, server classes, and automating rollout processes.
• Key responsibilities include onboarding and validating diverse data sources (e.g., Windows, firewall, cloud) while ensuring proper CIM alignment. The engineer configures custom indexes, authentication systems (LDAP/SAML), SMTP relay, and load balancing. They also install, configure, and operationalize Splunk ES, including data model acceleration, correlation searches, dashboards, and notable events.
• The role involves performance tuning, optimizing correlation searches, thresholds, and overall platform efficiency. Additional duties include producing documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational procedures. The engineer validates ingest pipelines, cluster stability, search performance, and ES functionality, while providing knowledge transfer and hands-on enablement to customer engineering teams to ensure long-term operational readiness and scalability.
