Role description
A leading Asset & Investment Manager is strengthening its Azure data platform and needs a hands-on SQL / Azure Data Developer to build high-quality, reliable data pipelines that power investment, risk and regulatory reporting. You’ll own ingestion, transformation and data quality across Azure services working closely with data analysts, quants and middle-office teams to deliver trusted, timely datasets.

Responsibilities:
• Design, build and maintain Azure-native ELT/ETL pipelines (Azure Data Factory/Synapse pipelines; Azure Functions where appropriate).
• Develop performant SQL (T-SQL) for transformations, stored procedures, views and table-valued functions.
• Engineer data models for analytics and reporting across portfolios, benchmarks, positions, orders and pricing.
• Implement data quality & lineage (rules, profiling, monitoring, alerting) and help standardise definitions/SLAs.
• Optimise performance (partitioning, indexing, workload management) and control cost across Azure resources.
• Automate deployment with CI/CD (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git) and follow best practices for code review and versioning.
• Partner with investment, operations and compliance teams to translate use-cases into robust data solutions.
Experience:
• Strong SQL/T-SQL expertise and proven experience building production data pipelines on Microsoft Azure .
• Solid hands-on with Azure Data Factory , Azure Synapse/SQL pools , Azure Data Lake Storage (Gen2) ; exposure to Databricks a plus.
• Experience with data modelling , dimensional design and performance tuning in analytics scenarios.
• Practical understanding of data governance/lineage/quality in regulated environments.
• Familiarity with Git/Azure DevOps CI/CD , Infrastructure-as-code concepts desirable.
• Exposure to Power BI semantic models or similar BI tooling.
• Financial services experience is a MUST ideally Asset/Investment Management (securities, benchmarks, positions, P&L, risk).
