SQL Data Migration Engineer - ETL/SSIS Location: 100% Remote Duration: 12-month contract to start with a strong possibility of extension. • We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong skills in SSIS, ETL processes, and advanced SQL scripting (T-SQL and PL/SQL). • This long-term, remote contract role is part of a high-performing data team responsible for large-scale data migration, cleansing, and transformation projects across enterprise claims systems. • You will play a critical role in building and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring clean and accurate data for high-volume transactional environments. Key Responsibilities: • Design, build, and troubleshoot robust SSIS-based ETL pipelines to process and transform data from external client systems. • Develop and optimize complex T-SQL or PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, and queries for data transformation, cleansing, and validation. • Perform data mapping, normalization, and deduplication to ensure data integrity during migrations. • Collaborate closely with stakeholders and QA teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business objectives. • Tune SQL performance using indexing, execution plan analysis, and query optimization techniques. • Analyze data from multiple structured sources (CSV, XML, flat files) to derive insights and support business reporting needs. • Create and maintain automated reports using tools such as SSRS, BusinessObjects, or Crystal Reports. • Build/Monitor/Troubleshoot Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) nightly jobs using SSIS. • Design and implement T-SQL views from dimensional models to support reporting. • Optimize SQL query performance by analysis, profiling, and indexing to minimize response time. Required Skills: • Advanced proficiency in: • SQL scripting (T-SQL or PL/SQL) • SSIS and ETL pipeline design, development, and troubleshooting • Data cleansing, transformation, and validation best practices. • SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, stored procedures, and debugging • Working with structured data formats (CSV, XML, flat files) • Data migrations across multiple formats and systems • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex data logic clearly • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently • Experience in high-volume claims systems, insurance, or similar transactional environments • Familiarity with cloud environments such as Azure • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and using tools like Azure DevOps • Experience with reporting tools (SSRS, Crystal Reports, BusinessObjects) • Strong analytical mindset and exceptional attention to detail • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to explain complex data logic clearly • Proactive, accountable, and self-motivated • Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced setting • Team-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn
