Role description
Role Overview This role focuses on building, maintaining, and deploying Power BI reports and semantic models, with a strong emphasis on SQL query development. The ideal candidate is technically solid, resourceful, and comfortable asking clarifying questions to ensure accuracy and alignment with business needs. Key Responsibilities • Develop, maintain, and deploy Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries used to feed Power BI datasets • Transform and visualize data from SQL queries into clear, actionable Power BI reports • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across all reporting assets • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into reporting solutions • Apply best practices in data modeling, query performance, and report usability Required Technical Skills • 2+ years Power BI development, including report building, data modeling, and deployment • 3+ years SQL experience, including: • Joins — inner, left, right, full • Aggregation — SUM, COUNT, GROUP BY, HAVING • Subqueries — correlated and non‑correlated • CTEs — structuring multi‑step logic • Optimization awareness — indexing fundamentals, query plan interpretation, performance tuning concepts Soft Skills • Resourceful problem‑solver who knows when to dig in independently • Comfortable asking questions to clarify requirements and avoid rework • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical findings into business‑friendly insights Preferred Qualifications • Experience with DAX and Power Query • Familiarity with data governance and version control • Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, Snowflake, etc.
