Role description
Role: Junior Level Software Engineer II (SQL) Duration: 12-month contract Location: Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, or Charlotte, NC We are in need of a Software Engineer who oversees application development, modification, and maintenance of applications. This position monitors system applications, ensures systems run smoothly, and creates reports and other documentation outlining findings/solutions. Primary Responsibilities β€’ Assists with the development and installation of new hardware and software β€’ Installs and configures systems and other software β€’ Tests installed software for malfunction detection β€’ Identifies and resolves business systems issues β€’ Designs and deploys new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operation systems β€’ Measures effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems β€’ Develops and implements strategies to improve systems β€’ Monitors and tests system performance β€’ Performs work with some independence of thought, but refers more complex problems to senior associates or supervisor/manager Required Skills: β€’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field β€’ 3-5 years of SQL experience β€’ SQL Server Databases β€’ Standalone queries: Writing and optimizing T-SQL queries. β€’ Stored procedures & functions: Creating reusable logic in the database. β€’ Scripting data and schema changes: Using tools like SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or Visual Studio to generate scripts for deployments. β€’ SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) β€’ Development & testing: Building ETL packages in Visual Studio. β€’ Deployment: Publishing SSIS projects to SQL Server. β€’ Management: Handling SSIS components like: β€’ Environments (via SSISDB or configuration files) β€’ Packages β€’ Projects β€’ C# Scripting β€’ Likely used within SSIS Script Tasks or Script Components for custom logic. β€’ SQL Server Agent β€’ Job creation & management: Automating tasks like ETL runs or report generation. β€’ Debugging: Monitoring job history and troubleshooting failures. β€’ Flat File Processing β€’ Extraction: Importing data from CSV, TXT, etc., using SSIS. β€’ Creation: Exporting structured data to flat files using SSIS. β€’ Database Projects in Visual Studio: Managing schema changes using .sqlproj files. β€’ SQL Server Tools in Visual Studio: β€’ Schema Compare: Compare and sync database schemas. β€’ Data Compare: Compare and sync data between databases. β€’ GitHub Source Management: Version control for SQL scripts, SSIS packages, and Visual Studio projects. β€’ Flat File Management in SSIS: Advanced handling of file formats, delimiters, and error handling.
