Role description
SQL Report Writer / Analyst Missoula, MT / 6-month contract A Missoula-based insurance agency, that is passionate about fostering a healthy work-life balance for our employees, is seeking a SQL Report Writer/Analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for building and automating reports, dashboards, and customer correspondence templates. You will also work closely with internal teams to identify optimal data fields, design report layouts, and improve reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in SQL, report development tools, and data visualization, along with the ability to communicate insights in a clear and actionable manner. Salary: $105,000 Schedule: Full-time β 6-month contract Location: Missoula, MT (in office/hybrid with remote options) Essential Functions and Duties:
Gather and translate stakeholder requirements into SQL-based reports, dashboards, and data extracts that meet business needs
Convert legacy and proprietary reports, templates, and correspondence into standardized VBA-compatible SQL formats
Write SQL queries and fulfill ad-hoc data requests from Microsoft SQL Server
Design and automate recurring reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Standardize reporting formats and improve processes to scale development, increase efficiency, and enhance report quality
Maintain audit dashboards, support documentation, and ensure high accuracy and quality across all deliverables
Qualifications:
Bachelorβs degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
4 to 5 years of experience as a SQL Report Writer/Analyst or similar role, preferably within healthcare or medical insurance
Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, SQL development, and query performance optimization
Expert-level experience with SSRS and strong familiarity with reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Visual Studio, BOLD Reports)
Working knowledge of programming concepts and languages such as Python, C#, .NET, and MySQL; experience with SSIS and diverse data sources preferred
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage projects, support user testing, and translate data into clear, actionable insights
Must be authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available
