Role description
Role: SQL Server developer (Snowflake) Location: London, UKMode: Hybrid Type: Contract Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Snowflake & SQL Server Support Engineer to manage support, maintenance, remediation, and governance activities across Snowflake, SQL Server, and related data platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in data operations, database administration, and cloud-based analytics environments, with hands-on experience in monitoring, performance tuning, ETL frameworks, and platform migrations. Key Responsibilities Core Platform Responsibilities Perform support, maintenance, remediation, and governance activities for: Snowflake SQL Server (ETL, RDM, RDRM, CRM, DPR, Arrear\_RM, SSIS) Manage daily monitoring and data movement activities across Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, and Kafka ecosystems. Administer database provisioning, maintenance, performance tuning, and optimization across supported platforms. Operations & Incident Management Provide support for incident management, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis. Handle service requests, including user creation, data access, audit requests, and reporting. Support change management, problem management, and patching activities. Conduct DR (Disaster Recovery) events and support DR readiness. Data Management & Security Implement and maintain security frameworks, user access controls, and auditing. Manage data protection procedures, archiving, and purging frameworks. Oversee configuration management and maintain accurate documentation. Migrations & Integrations Support migration of tables from ODS/Oracle to Snowflake via ODI. Manage DR and CRM data migration to Snowflake to eliminate legacy reporting. Maintain and support SSIS packages, ETL jobs, parallel file loading activities, and legacy pipelines. Support SSIS migration and server decommissioning. Facilitate third-party integrations with various tools. Automation & Frameworks Develop and support file loading and creation frameworks, including automation of recurring processes. Implement table partitioning and optimize database structures. Enhance observability using Datadog dashboards. Cost & Resource Optimization Conduct cost monitoring and optimization across Snowflake and other platforms. Optimize storage space, monitor consumption, and perform reclamation activities. Minimize Azure SQL DB dependency by migrating workloads to Snowflake. Reporting & Monitoring Perform daily health monitoring, generate status reports, and manage platform alerts. Maintain robust monitoring frameworks for all databases and data pipelines. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake and SQL Server. Proficiency with SSIS, ETL processes, and SQL query tuning. Knowledge of Oracle, Kafka, and ODI (Oracle Data Integrator). Experience with Datadog or similar monitoring tools. Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems, storage optimization, and cost control. Strong understanding of database security, governance, and user management. Ability to work in fast-paced environments with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
