SQL Server developer with Upgrade experience
Location: Piscataway, NJ
Duration: 12 months

Overview
We are seeking a skilled SQL Server Developer with extensive experience in database upgrades and cloud migration to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server development, expertise in upgrading database versions, and hands-on experience with AWS cloud services to support our cloud migration initiatives and ongoing database management.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases ensuring high availability and performance.
β’ Lead and execute database upgrade projects from older versions of SQL Server to newer releases, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
β’ Migrate existing on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS cloud environments, such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, or EC2-based solutions.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design effective database schemas, stored procedures, scripts, and queries.
β’ Implement and monitor database security, backup & recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
β’ Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
β’ Develop automation scripts and processes for deployment, backup, and maintenance tasks.
β’ Document database architecture, procedures, and standards.
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
β’ Provide technical guidance on best practices for cloud-based database architecture and migration.
Qualifications
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
β’ Proven experience as a SQL Server Developer with at least [10] years working on SQL Server versions 2012, 2016, 2019, or later.
β’ Hands-on experience with database upgrades, including planning, testing, and executing upgrades.
β’ Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services relevant to database hosting and migration (Amazon RDS, Aurora, EC2, S3).
β’ Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
β’ Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and ETL processes.
β’ Familiarity with AWS CLI, CloudFormation, or other automation tools is a plus.
β’ Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
β’ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
β’ Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database Specialty.
β’ Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployment.
β’ Knowledge of other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) is a plus.
