Role description
Senior AI/ML Engineer (RAG & Agentic Systems)
At Synapse, we are a forward-thinking technology services firm dedicated to fuelling digital transformation and business agility for data-driven enterprises worldwide. From conceptualizing innovative ideas to deploying cloud-native solutions that sync digital and real-world ecosystems, we deliver end-to-end services-including managed cloud operations, full-stack application development with AI-powered applications built through our cutting-edge AI Workbench, advanced data analytics, IoT prototyping, and hypercare operations-to help clients unlock performance, security, and scalability.
Location: Remote ( US)
Role Overview:
We are seeking highly skilled AI/ML Engineers to join our rapidly expanding team. This isn't just a "prompt engineering" role; we are looking for engineers who understand the underlying architecture of Large Language Models (LLMs), the nuances of vector database scaling, and the orchestration of complex agentic workflows. You will be responsible for moving AI prototypes into robust, production-ready systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advanced RAG & Embedding Strategies
Select, evaluate, and implement state-of-the-art embedding models (e.g., OpenAI, Cohere, HuggingFace) based on specific use cases like semantic search, multilingual support, or domain-specific terminology.
Optimize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines to minimize hallucination and maximize context relevance.
2. Agentic Orchestration
Architect systems that differentiate between simple LLM API calls and autonomous Agentic workflows.
Develop logic for tool-use, multi-step reasoning, and feedback loops where the model can interact with external environments.
3. Production Monitoring & Evaluation
Implement rigorous frameworks to measure RAG retrieval precision and recall in live environments.
Utilize evaluation metrics such as Ragas, TruLens, or custom "LLM-as-a-judge" frameworks to ensure output quality.
4. Infrastructure & Scaling
Manage and scale Vector Stores (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus).
Execute strategies for vertical scaling (increasing compute/memory for high-dimensional searches) and horizontal scaling (sharding and replication) to handle massive datasets and high concurrency.
Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years in Software Engineering, with at least 2+ years focused specifically on AI/ML production deployments.
LLM Proficiency: Deep understanding of the Transformer architecture and fine-tuning techniques.
Data Engineering: Proficiency in Python and experience with distributed data processing.
Infrastructure: Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native scaling (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Problem Solving: Ability to explain and choose in why a specific model or architecture was chosen over alternatives.
Interested candidates can apply here or connect on career@thesynapses.com at the earliest.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $40.00 - $70.00 per hour
