Sr. ArcGIS Specialist (Data Specialist) -Public Health

This role uses geospatial technologies to support epidemiology, population health analysis, disease surveillance, and public health program operations—turning spatial + public health data into actionable insights. Experience with health datasets such as disease incidence, immunization, environmental health indicators, and social determinants of health (SDOH) is important. Key Responsibilities • Maintain and analyze MSSA (Medical Service Study Area) geographic datasets, including new census tract assignments and demographic attributes • Build and maintain ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS. Online maps, dashboards, and web applications displaying boundaries, population characteristics, and workforce indicators • Perform spatial analysis for health workforce planning, including identifying shortage risk relative to population need and demographic factors • Support shortage/service-area style assessments (e.g., HPSA concepts and similar state/federal designations) • Conduct geocoding, spatial joins, and demographic aggregation using U.S. Census/ACS data • Automate recurring GIS workflows using ArcPy, ModelBuilder, and scripting • Ensure data quality, metadata documentation, and version control for spatial datasets • Create interactive dashboards, web maps, and story maps (ArcGIS Online and/or ArcGIS Enterprise) • Integrate GIS with surveillance systems, EHR, and reporting platforms • Produce maps, technical reports, and visual analytics for leadership/public reporting; support health equity and disparity analysis • Follow data governance, confidentiality, and HIPAA practices when handling sensitive health data Required Skills / Qualifications · Strong hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro + ArcGIS Online / Enterprise · 5+ years of professional GIS experience, including Public Health GIS • Disease surveillance, immunization, environmental health, SDOH · Experience with U.S. Census & ACS data • Census tracts and demographic analysis · Spatial analysis for health services / workforce planning • MSSA/HPSA-type or service-area analysis · Python scripting for GIS automation • ArcPy (mandatory) • · Experience building dashboards or web maps/apps in ArcGIS
