The Planet Group has partnered with a Dallas area company to locate Senior Data Engineer to join a growing data team for a long-term contract position.
Candidates must be willing to be onsite 3 days a week in our Dallas office. Due to the very high number of applicants, candidates must have a LinkedIn profile that clearly indicates they are within a 75 mile radius of the Dallas area.

In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize robust data pipelines and systems that support enterprise-scale analytics and business intelligence solutions. Youβll work with modern Azure data technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and actionable.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process large and complex datasets
β’ Integrate data from diverse sources, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality
β’ Build and manage data warehouses and data lakes to support reporting and analytics needs
β’ Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for efficient data ingestion and transformation
β’ Enhance the performance of data processing and storage systems
β’ Maintain thorough documentation for data workflows, pipelines, and architecture
β’ Monitor data systems for reliability and troubleshoot issues as they arise
β’ Stay current with emerging tools and technologies and make recommendations for improvements
Required Skills and Experience:
β’ Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
β’ 5+ years of experience in data engineering with strong proficiency in SQL and Python
β’ 3+ years of hands-on experience with the following Azure technologies:
β’ Azure SQL Database
β’ Azure Data Factory (ADF)
β’ Azure Databricks (key focus area)
β’ Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
β’ Azure Functions, Key Vault, and Logic Apps
β’ Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
β’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
β’ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed team environment
Preferred:
β’ Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
β’ Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Associate or Professional)
β’ Experience with .NET development is a plus
