Role description
Role: Sr. Azure ETL Data Engineer With Healthcare clients /Protected Health Information (PHI)
Location: Remote (prefer to find someone local to McLean VA 22102)
Contract
Responsibilities:
β’ Collaborate with solution & Enterprise architects and other cross functional team to understand business requirement
β’ Work on small to mid-sized and cross-functional IT solutions.
β’ Contribute to workstream planning process including inception, requirements gathering, technical design, development, testing and delivery of ETL solutions.
β’ Experience using ETL tools for plug and play implementation, ETL automation, monitoring and alerts.
β’ Collaborate with Analytics & Reporting, Data Science, Machine Learning, Analytics Engineering, IT Infrastructure, and other Technology teams in solution design, development, and deployment.
β’ Implement and adhere to security guidelines to safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) and establish secure communication channels for data transfer.
β’ Exercise Agile methodologies throughout the development processing, using tools such as JIRA, confluence, and video communication to enhance collaboration, documentation, and transparency.
β’ Follow DevOps/DataOps best practices throughout Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent.
β’ 8+ years professional experience in Data Engineering (or similar) role.
β’ Experience in designing and implementing data applications and data architectures.
β’ Experience with open-source data frameworks like Spark and/or experience with cloud data platforms is preferred.
β’ Healthcare experience in a Payer or Provider/Hospital Organization preferred.
β’ Experience in Azure data technologies is a bonus (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL).
β’ Experience with DevOps/DataOps practices is a bonus.
β’ Experience or familiar with Agile or a similar process.
β’ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
β’ 5+ years of experience with at least one database/data warehouse solution (e.g., MySQL, MSSQL, Synapse, Snowflake, RedShift).
β’ 3+ years of experience in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
β’ Experience using industry standard Python libraries for data exploration, analysis, and transformation (e.g., Pandas, Numpy, etc.)
β’ Experience using REST APIs
β’ Proficient in writing SQL Code for SQL queries, views, stored procedures, etc.
β’ Experience working with data housed in file formats including TXT, CSV, JSON, YAML, Parquet, XLSX
β’ Problem-solving aptitude and critical thinking skills
β’ Excellent communication, interpersonal and communication skills.
