Job Summary
The Regulatory Reporting & Clinical Data Analyst serves as a subject matter expert in regulatory data reporting and healthcare analytics. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing data extracts to ensure timely and accurate submissions to external agencies, including CMS, accrediting bodies, payers, and external registries. The analyst works cross-functionally with Quality, IT, Clinical Informatics, and Compliance teams to interpret clinical workflows and regulatory requirements, driving improvements in data accuracy, compliance readiness, and analytics maturity.
This position reports to the Clinical Analytics Lead and supports the organizationβs transition to real-time compliance and performance monitoring.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Regulatory Data Management & Analytics
β’ Develop, maintain, and validate data extracts used for regulatory reporting.
β’ Translate clinical workflows and documentation practices into reportable data logic for compliance monitoring.
β’ Validate datasets for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness before submission to external entities.
β’ Perform root cause analysis for data discrepancies, reporting errors, or submission failures.
β’ Use SQL and other tools to generate ad hoc reports for audits, quality checks, and executive decision-making.
β’ Support automation and migration of reporting workflows and systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
β’ Partner with stakeholders across Quality, Compliance, and Informatics to define reporting specifications and interpret regulatory requirements.
β’ Serve as a technical lead during onboarding of new regulatory measures or system upgrades.
β’ Participate in internal and external audits and vendor discussions as a representative of the analytics team.
β’ Facilitate the flow of information between end-users and IT teams to align clinical needs with data systems.
Technical Development & Documentation
β’ Analyze business needs to design efficient software solutions, file access techniques, and data outputs.
β’ Document technical specifications, data logic, and standard operating procedures according to governance protocols.
β’ Participate in system testing, validate test results, and contribute to process improvement.
β’ Contribute to the development and maintenance of data governance tools, business glossaries, and compliance documentation.
Leadership & Mentorship
β’ Advocate for enterprise data integrity and reporting accuracy across departments.
β’ Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on regulatory measure implementation.
β’ Lead cross-departmental initiatives focused on improving regulatory analytics and compliance infrastructure.
β’ Provide coaching on advanced data extraction and reporting techniques.
General Responsibilities
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve user issues with reporting systems and data accuracy.
β’ Maintain effective working relationships with internal departments.
β’ Complete assigned duties and special projects as directed by leadership.
β’ Uphold organizational policies, compliance standards, and confidentiality guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related field required.
β’ Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
Experience:
β’ Minimum 3β5 years of experience in healthcare data analytics, regulatory reporting, or clinical/business IT.
β’ Preferred experience with electronic health records (EHRs), SQL-based reporting, and regulatory compliance tools.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
β’ Proficiency in SQL, data extract tools, and reporting platforms.
β’ Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory measures and clinical documentation standards.
β’ Experience in data validation, troubleshooting, and error resolution.
β’ Ability to analyze complex data sets and identify performance gaps.
