Our customer is seeking a Data Analyst for a Hybrid, Contract opportunity.
We are seeking a contractor to serve as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that complex metadata, governance, and reporting concepts are translated into clear, actionable documentation for our customerβs enterprise data catalog (Gene). This role focuses on consolidating technical details into business-friendly language, supporting metadata completeness, and advancing governance initiatives across core data domains.
Job Responsibilities:
Interpret and simplify technical concepts related to data assets, data lineage, and reporting logic for inclusion in the data catalog.
Collaborate with technical teams to gather detailed information about data sources, transformations, and quality checks, including but not limited to:
Translating technical data rules for business and operational teams within the data catalog.
Consolidating and summarizing data rules for core domains (e.g., patient, provider) to enable easy access for business stakeholders.
Defining documentation standards and processes required to certify data.
Create clear, user-friendly descriptions that explain complex data processes in business-friendly language.
Ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness of metadata and definitions across the data catalog.
Support governance and compliance efforts by maintaining transparency in data documentation.
Identify gaps in existing documentation and partner with teams to remediate them.
Partner with Data Engineering and Data Analytics teams to document core and semantic tables currently in production.
Collaborate with Data Analytics teams to identify and document enterprise metrics and create a framework to link related or similar metrics.
Partner with Data Analytics teams to remediate or retire existing metrics that lack defined ownership.
Work with Research and Privacy teams to document and outline guidelines for handling PHI and PII relevant to the Data and Analytics organization when sharing data externally.
Create and maintain data policies for restricted data across the CHOP ecosystem to ensure compliance with enterprise standards and guidelines.
Partner with stakeholders and technical teams to support and operationalize Data Retention policies in accordance with CHOP standards.
Develop artifacts that make existing CHOP data initiatives more accessible and understandable for technical and business teams.
Create relevant data policies and link to CHOP global policies to ensure policies are actionable and consistently applied.
Skills Required:
Strong understanding of data management principles, including data quality, metadata, and reporting concepts.
Ability to translate technical language into clear, concise, and accessible explanations.
Experience working with data catalogs and metadata management tools like Alation is a plus
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across technical and business teams.
Familiarity with data governance frameworks and reporting tools is a plus.
Experience in SQL and other programming languages is a plus.
Experience with Data Quality tools like Experian, Collibra, etc. is a plus
Experience in Healthcare, with experience in Epic is a plus
Experience in writing technical documentation
Required:
BS in Computer/Analytics/Data Science related field.
Preferred:
BS in Clinical Informatics, Sciences, Math, Stats, or Healthcare Management
4-6 years of data governance experience and data management organization
2-3 years using SQL and Python
1-2 years using data cataloging
