Job#: 3038980 Job Description: Sr. Data Dog Cloud Engineer Location: Remote Role Overview This position supports a federal contract by engineering, operating, and continuously improving the enterprise observability platform across hybrid cloud and containerized environments. This is a hands-on role focused on instrumenting services, building and tuning Datadog (or comparable) observability tools, and using telemetry to solve production performance, reliability, and capacity problems. The engineer will provide senior technical leadership for observability strategy and data-driven operational decision-making in a 24x7x365 environment. Key Responsibilities • Engineer and operate the enterprise observability stack (Datadog or comparable), including metrics, logs, traces, APM, RUM, and synthetic monitoring. • Build, tune, and maintain dashboards, monitors, SLOs/SLIs, and alerting policies. • Instrument services, infrastructure, and containerized workloads using agents, OpenTelemetry, and language-specific APM tracers (Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, Go). • Design and deliver monitoring coverage for Microsoft Azure and AWS workloads. • Engineer observability for container platforms like OpenShift/Kubernetes. • Lead data-driven investigation and resolution of complex performance, latency, and reliability issues using APM, distributed tracing, and code profiling. • Analyze operational telemetry to identify capacity risks and drive continuous improvement of observability coverage and operational maturity. • Build and maintain capacity and performance dashboards and reports for technical and leadership stakeholders. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering). • 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or platform engineering roles. • 5+ years focused on observability, performance engineering, or site reliability engineering. • Demonstrated experience engineering and operating an enterprise observability platform (Datadog is strongly preferred; experience with Dynatrace, New Relic, Splunk Observability, or Grafana/Prometheus stacks is also considered). • Proven experience building APM and distributed tracing coverage for production multi-tier applications. • Proven experience leading complex production performance and reliability problem-solving from telemetry to remediation PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Public Trust clearance as a condition and continuation of employment.
